1. About KissanKhata
KissanKhata is a digital farm ledger for farmers across India. It helps you record income and expenses, track crops and seasons, and view simple summaries on your phone — in Hindi, Marathi, or English. The app works offline and syncs when internet is available.
2. Acceptance of terms
By registering with your mobile number, verifying OTP, and checking “I accept the terms”, you enter a binding agreement with KissanKhata. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
3. Who may use the app
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your state) and use your own valid mobile number. One account per mobile number. You are responsible for activity on your account.
4. Your account
Registration uses mobile OTP verification. Keep your phone secure. Do not share OTP with anyone — KissanKhata staff will never ask for your OTP. You may update your name, village, and language in Settings.
5. Information we collect
We collect: your mobile number; optional name and village; language preference; the farm, crop, and transaction data you enter; device sync timestamps; and technical logs needed to run the service. When you use the bill-scan or voice-entry features, the photo or audio is processed only to help you record a transaction.
6. How we use your information
Your data is used to provide the ledger, sync across your devices, support you, and improve the app. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising. Aggregated, non-identifying statistics may be used for product improvement.
7. Third-party services we use
To run the service we rely on trusted providers: an SMS/telecom provider to send OTP; secure cloud hosting to store and sync your data; and AI services to read bill photos and understand voice entries. These providers process data only on our instructions, under confidentiality obligations, and are not allowed to use it for their own purposes. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
8. Offline storage and sync
Records are saved on your phone first. When online, data syncs to our secure servers so you can recover it on a new device. You are responsible for checking that synced totals match your records. Sync may be delayed without internet.
9. Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active so the ledger stays available across your devices. If you delete your account, your personal data and records are removed from our active systems within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep certain records longer. Backups are purged on a routine cycle.
10. Your data rights
You may access and correct your profile in Settings, request a copy of your data, withdraw consent, or ask us to delete your data. To exercise these rights, contact our Grievance Officer (Section 20). We will respond within the timelines required by Indian law.
11. Delete your account and data
You can delete your account and all associated records at any time from Settings → Account, or by emailing support.kissankhata@gmail.com from your registered number. Deletion is permanent: your synced records cannot be recovered afterwards. We complete deletion from active systems within 30 days.
12. Your responsibilities
Enter accurate amounts and dates to the best of your knowledge. KissanKhata is a record-keeping tool — not a bank, accountant, or government system. Verify all entries before saving. You are solely responsible for financial, tax, and loan decisions based on your records.
13. Privacy and security
We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit and at rest. No system is 100% secure. Report suspected unauthorised access to support.kissankhata@gmail.com promptly.
14. Intellectual property and licence
KissanKhata, its name, logo, and software are owned by us and protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own farm record-keeping. The data you enter remains yours; you grant us only the limited permission needed to store, sync, and display it back to you.
15. Pilot programme
During the pilot, features, limits, and availability may change without notice. OTP in pilot may use a test method (last 6 digits of your mobile). Pilot access may end or be extended at our discretion. We appreciate your feedback.
16. Disclaimers
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, error-free calculations, or suitability for any particular purpose. KissanKhata does not provide medical, legal, insurance, or professional tax advice. Crop prices, weather, and market conditions are outside our control.
17. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, KissanKhata and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages including crop loss, lost profit, data loss, or decisions made using app summaries. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the preceding 12 months (pilot: zero).
18. Account suspension
We may suspend or deactivate accounts that violate these terms, misuse the service, or remain inactive for an extended period, with notice where reasonably possible.
19. Changes to terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be shown in the app or on this page. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
20. Grievance Officer
In line with Indian law, you can raise any complaint about your data or the service with our Grievance Officer, KissanKhata, at support.kissankhata@gmail.com. We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days.
21. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of India, with courts at our registered location having jurisdiction. For questions, complaints, or data requests, email support.kissankhata@gmail.com.
