1. Who we are
KissanKhata (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides a digital farm ledger mobile application for Indian farmers. The app helps you record income and expenses, track crops and seasons, and view simple summaries in Hindi, Marathi, or English. It works offline on your phone and syncs to our servers when internet is available.

2. Information we collect
When you use KissanKhata, we may collect:
- Account information: mobile phone number (for OTP login), optional name and village, language preference.
- Farm ledger data: farms, crops, seasons, income and expense transactions, categories, notes, and amounts you enter.
- Device and sync data: app version, sync timestamps, and technical logs needed to operate and secure the service.
- Bill scan (optional): if you photograph a bill, the image is processed to help you record a transaction. We do not use it for advertising.
- Voice entry (optional): if you use voice commands, speech is processed on your device and/or by our service providers to understand your entry. We do not store raw voice recordings for marketing.
We do not collect payment card numbers. KissanKhata is not a payment or banking app.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and secure your account (OTP verification).
- Store, sync, and display your farm ledger across your devices.
- Provide customer support when you contact us.
- Improve app reliability, security, and features.
- Comply with applicable law.
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We do not use your data for third-party advertising. Aggregated, non-identifying statistics may be used to improve the product.
4. App permissions
The app may request the following permissions on your phone:
- Internet & network: to sign in, sync data, and use online features.
- Camera: to scan bills and receipts (only when you choose this feature).
- Microphone: for voice entry (only when you tap the microphone).
- Bluetooth (if applicable): for speech recognition on some devices.
You can deny permissions, but related features may not work.
5. Third-party service providers
To run KissanKhata we use trusted providers, including:
- SMS / telecom providers to send OTP for login.
- Secure cloud hosting to store and sync your data.
- AI and speech services to read bill photos and understand voice entries.
These providers process data only on our instructions, under confidentiality obligations, and are not permitted to use your data for their own marketing purposes.
6. Data storage and security
Your records are saved on your phone first. When you are online, data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored on secure servers.
We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit and at rest. No system is 100% secure. If you suspect unauthorised access to your account, contact us immediately at support.kissankhata@gmail.com.
7. Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active so your ledger remains available across your devices. If you delete your account, your personal data and records are removed from our active systems within 30 days, except where the law requires us to retain certain records longer. Backup copies are purged on a routine cycle.
8. Your rights
Under applicable Indian law (including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you may:
- Access and correct your profile in the app (Settings).
- Request a copy of your data.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Request deletion of your account and personal data.
- Raise a grievance about how we handle your data.
To exercise these rights, email support.kissankhata@gmail.com from your registered mobile number. We will respond within timelines required by Indian law.
9. Delete your account and data
You can delete your account and all associated records at any time:
- In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account.
- By email: send a request from your registered number to support.kissankhata@gmail.com.
Deletion is permanent: synced records cannot be recovered afterwards. We complete deletion from active systems within 30 days.
10. Children
KissanKhata is intended for users who are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in their state). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Grievance Officer
In line with Indian law, you may raise any complaint about your personal data or the service with our Grievance Officer at KissanKhata:

12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in the app or on this page. Continued use of KissanKhata after changes means you accept the updated policy.
